Our positions

Climate and accessibility

Sustainable mobility and energy, more greenery, and practical parking solutions for those who depend on a car.

De Nieuwe Politiek sees that the climate is under pressure. With international and geopolitical events, climate is no
longer a conversation that matters. But not for us. We want to continue doing our part. After all, Amsterdam lies below
sea level, and so we, as Amsterdammers, cannot afford not to concern ourselves with the climate.

We are, however, moving away from individual responsibility. We cannot expect an individual
to reduce their impact on the climate, only for that to be entirely negated by industry and the economy. Naturally, we applaud anyone
who takes responsibility for their share in improving the climate. We therefore strive for a
climate economy, and not a war economy, which is currently being demanded of us. The notion that the one excludes the other is a
false dichotomy. A climate economy can also protect us very well, particularly regarding our dependence on other countries for
energy.

We want to make the car and moped fleets in Amsterdam more sustainable. Electric variants must also become accessible
to people on a tight budget. If we are going to electrify our vehicles, we must also be able to charge them. And
electric cars, too, need somewhere to park. And parking must remain affordable for Amsterdammers. Currently, under
the guise of congestion caused by tourism, parking fees are primarily being paid daily by Amsterdammers.

For public transport is still not a good substitute for private transport. You are often on the road 2 to 3 times longer,
despite the municipality's attempt to make public transport seem faster by introducing a 30 km/h speed limit for road users. Furthermore, the
rolling stock of the Municipal Transport Company (GVB) and the working conditions for the driving and maintenance staff
are very poor, and public transport is still not competitive in price. In fact, lines are being cancelled and services are frequently cancelled,
meaning you ultimately cannot rely on the GVB.

The New Politics wants.
